Check your device settings. Go to the device’s settings to see if your mic is enabled. Make sure you properly set up your mic in Windows and select the audio input you want on Mac. Close other programs that use your mic.

Make sure other software isn’t competing for access to your microphone. Check your app permissions. Go into your device’s app settings and ensure Zoom has permission to access your microphone.

Update your device’s drivers. If you’re using Windows, go into the Device Manager to ensure your mic’s drivers are up-to-date. Reboot your device. The reason why rebooting resolves computer problems is that it closes any processes that might be interfering with hardware or software. Mute other nearby audio devices. If you hear an echo, your microphone might be picking up the audio from another source, like a TV or speaker.

On an iPhone, navigate to the Zoom app within your settings, then make sure that the microphone option is toggled on. In this case, the issue is probably in your speakers, so be sure to check your selected speaker source and the volume levels on your device. Make sure the correct speaker is selected if not, select the correct speaker. If you don’t see the Join Audio option, double-check that the speaker icon in the top-left corner of the screen doesn’t have an “x” next to it ; if it does, tap the icon to enable the speaker.

If the sound is getting through, but the quality is subpar, there could be a few things going on:. In some cases, it’s best to ask everyone to check that they mute themselves when not speaking. That can help cut down on background noise, too. You may also need to ask people to mute one at a time so you can isolate the issue and have the person who is causing the audio issue fix it.

If after troubleshooting your audio on your computer you still can’t get it to work, the phone audio option is a great alternative. In the Zoom window on your computer, select the caret next to the speaker.

Even discord pings are silent in a meeting. Ok then, Let’s try this: Method 1: Try to run the troubleshooter for apps to diagnose the exact issue. Method 2: Check the volume settings. Please follow the steps below and see if it helps. Right click on the speaker icon in taskbar and select volume control options. Put a check mark on “All devices currently playing sound”. Make sure you have “The default communication device unchecked”. Place a check mark on both speakers and headphones.

Click Apply and OK. Hope that fix it for you! Let me know if you need anymore help! I couldn’t follow the exact steps, but messing with the sound settings fixed my problem! That’s great! Have a great day! Bhavesh KumarJha. Zoom audio system lets you hear audio and sounds coming from other participants if you have your audio connected. And to be heard, you must stay unmute.

Setting 1: While in a meeting, tap your screen to display the meeting controls below your screen. Setting 2: To be heard by other participants in a Zoom meeting, tap on the screen to show the call controls. Tap on the microphone icon if there is a red diagonal line across it. After your selection, Test the Speaker. Step 5: To make sure your audio will be delivered to participants, look for Microphone also under the Audio tab and click the Input level bar next to Test Mic to pick the right mic.

Click the Test Mic button afterward to confirm that the selected mic works. Otherwise, you may have to try another mic from the list.

Zoom audio not working: How to fix the problem – IONOS – Part 1: Possible Reasons Why Zoom Audio is Not Working

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. My computer is acting very strange. When I go into the control panel, I have two headsets show up. If I try to set this as the default, I can not hear anything else while the zoom meeting is running, the test tone will not play, and the volume mixer simply will not work.

If I set this as the default device, however, all my problems are solved except that the audio quality is very poor and there is always static in the background.

I don’t think there is any solution to this, just wanted to let you know in case my headphones are bad or this is not supposed to happen. Edit: the “stereo” headphones bring up the quality significantly and the volume mixer works with it but only when I’m not in a zoom meeting.

Could you explain how you changed the audio input device to the same as system for both microphone and speakers?

I had the same problem. I solved this by changing the audio input device to same as system, both microphone and speakers. Hi Bhavesh,. I had the same problem I tried to solve this using Bhavesh’s method it did not work I still don’t know how to solve this.

I tried many ways like messing with audio settings but still it did not work. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
This does not mean that I cannot hear other participants in the meeting, just that if there is another app with audio playing at the same time, I cannot hear it.

I don’t know anyone else with this problem and can’t find any help on this issue on the Zoom help website. I use a Bluetooth headset, and all my drivers are up to date. I can hear sounds from other apps only when I am not in a meeting. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
In reply to FelipeAD83’s post on November 17, Yes, both the general and audio settings, and have seen nothing pertaining to my problem. I even tried just toggling random settings off one at a time, and nothing changed. If this helps, when I go to the get help link in the windows audio settings, it plays a tone to check if there are any audio problems.
